I weighed in at 293 today. That is a loss of 1 lb. for the week. I’m honestly amazed I lost anything. My family is going through a crisis. I tried to cook twice this week. Each time ended in disaster. I can’t even cook a frozen pizza right now for fear I would burn it. My head just can’t think right now. I can’t drive, I can’t cook. I went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of microwave meals the boys could fix themselves.
The weather has been dreary and wet all week. Today the sun came out for the first time in days. I think getting out of the house and going for a walk will do me some good.
I don’t really know how it happened but I lost 2 lbs. this week. My current weight is 294 lbs. with a total loss of 33 lbs. I made my goal of loosing 10%.
My family is going through a crisis this week. I feel like I’ve been knocked on my butt and I don’t know how to get up right now. I don’t know what this means for this blog or for my weight loss journey. I don’t want to gain weight again but keeping track is too much for me right now. I guess it’s a good thing that I don’t even feel like eating.
Ugh, I’m having a bad weekend. It all started with a lazy Saturday….
“Oh, it’s the weekend. I deserve a rest so I’m not going to exercise today.”
Then later that day…
“It’s such a relaxing lazy day its ok if I don’t journal and blog what I eat just this one day. It won’t matter.”
Later that night when I was tempted with Halloween candy…
“I have no idea how many points I’ve used up today and I really want some of that candy. Since I have no idea how many I can have I’m going to have as many as I want.”
Yup I ate a bunch. I have no idea how many because I wasn’t counting.
This morning I was feeling guilty. I was feeling like I’ve ruined my weigh in for next week. Guess what I did?….for breakfast I had a banana and two more pieces of Halloween candy! What is wrong with me? I’ve got to find a way to get back on track. To put behind me the mistakes I’ve made this weekend and push forward on a healthy path.
Hello everyone.
I hope your Thursday has been a good one.
Breakfast
I made apple bagels today for breakfast. They aren’t really bagels but the way you slice the apples makes them look like bagels. I spread peanut butter over the top and they were yummy.
- 1 apple = 2 points
- 1 tbs. peanut butter = 2.5 points
Total = 4.5 points
Dinner/Lunch
Tonight our family had to have an early dinner. It’s bible quiz team night for the boys. They have to leave the house at 4:30. It’s also our oldest’s (14 years) night to cook dinner. He decided to make burritos. We also had some store bought cookies for dessert.
- flour tortilla = 3 points
- 2 tbs grated cheese = 2 points
- ground beef mixture = 4 points
- 3 cookies = 6 points
Total = 15 points
My Daily Points Target = 32
Total points spent = 19.5 points
Breakfast: apple bagel = 4.5 points

I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s weigh in. I feel like I’ve worked hard this week. After last week’s gain I’m hoping for a good loss on the scale. Wish me luck!
C25K Week 1 ,Day 3: Ugh! Today was hard. I don’t think I’m stretching properly or something because my leg muscles are killing me. I stretched out my calves and quads really good this time, no pain there, but my (I’m not sure what this muscle is called) lower front of my leg muscle is very sore.
I made it through 18 minutes of my workout (a little over halfway) when I decided to quit. I went and sat down and tried to stretch out the muscles that was hurting me. As I sat there I thought to myself “If you don’t finish this workout your going to start a pattern of quitting your workouts when they get hard.” I decided to finish it. I got back up off my butt and finished my workout. I physically feel like dieing but emotionally I’m super proud of myself.
After the C25K workout I did some weights:
| Frontal Raises | 5 lbs. | 2 sets of 10 |
| Standing Twist w/ Dumbbell | 5 lbs. | 2 sets of 10 |
| One Arm Dumbbell Row | 5 lbs. each | 2 sets of 10, each arm |
| Seated Biceps Curl | 5 lbs. each | 2 sets of 10 |
| Push-Up, Knees Bent | Body Weight | 2 sets of 10 |
Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday
I feel like I’ve made a lot of good changes so far but that I still have so much more to lean about being healthy.
One problem I’ve been struggling with is what to cook for my family that is healthy and that they will eat. I also have a budget to live with so it can’t cost an arm and a leg. I have a tendency to prepare the same old meals each week. When I shop for food I purchase the same old food. I’m in a rut. My menu needs a makeover.
I found a great tip today from Hello Veggie:
Try a New Fruit and Veggie Every Week! Variety is key. It keeps us from getting bored with the same old foods and it keeps a plethora of nutrients flowing in our bods. View food as a health adventure, don’t be shy!
A healthy adventure….ok, I can do that. ( I think) This is what I’m going to do…. Monday’s I’m going to announce the new fruit and veggie I will be trying out for the week. Then I will try to incorporate them into my menu. Sounds simple enough. If anyone has a great recipe using the fruit or veggie of the week that is Kid Friendly please send it to me. I will definitely try it out and share the results on my blog.
Breakfast
I didn’t have much of a breakfast today. I wasn’t very hungry so I went with some tea. It was such a chilly Fall morning it felt like a great morning for tea. I had it black with 2 spoonfuls of sugar.
~ tea = 0 points
~ 2 tbs. sugar = 2 points
Total = 2 points
This week I’ve been skipping breakfast far too much. I need to nip that bad habit in the bud.
Lunch
I need to go grocery shopping. We still have food in the house but my choices on what meals to make are very limited. I had 1 Lean Cuisine left sitting in my freezer which I made myself for lunch.
- Lean Cuisine = 7 points
Dinner
I’ve been trying to give my kid’s more responsibilities this week. My oldest son (14 years) is doing all the household’s laundry and folding this week. I’ve also given each of the boy’s a night this week to make dinner. Tonight my youngest (11 years) made dinner for us. He decided to make homemade pizza. I only supervised and taught him how to do things he didn’t know, he did the actual preparing. He did awesome.
He served us pizza on hoagie rolls with onions and ground beef. He also cut up cantaloupe to go on the side.
- 1 1/2 hoagie rolls = 9 points
- 1/2 cup ground beef = 3 points
- 3 tbs. grated cheese = 3 points
- cantaloupe = 1 point
Total = 16 points
My Daily Points Target = 32
Total points spent = 25 points
Breakfast: tea = 2 points
Lunch: lean cuisine= 7 points
Dinner: pizza = 16 points
I’m never hungry after I exercise. After my workout today I skipped breakfast. (I know, bad habit) When the boys and I got home this afternoon from our walk they were hungry for lunch so I fixed something for us all.
- salad with carrots, grated cheese, apples and dressing = 4 points
- 1 serving of baked fries = 2 points
Total = 6 points

Despite feeling like I would never try this again, I woke up this morning and decided not to give up. I did my second day of Couch to 5k workout. It went better this time. I did some stretching before and after and my legs don’t feel as stiff and painful. I also ran the whole time I was supposed to this time. My first day I cheated a little and walked through a few of the run parts. I feel great! Hey world….I ran today!
Later this afternoon my kids wanted to go on a walk. I was feel so good after my C25k workout that i agreed to walk our cemetery loop with them. That’s another 2.25 miles today. My quads hurt! It’s a good kind of hurt though. The kind of hurt that lets me know I am strengthening my body.
